Rumor Control for 7/5/08
Unfortunately, I don’t have a source on this rumor. But the word is that as soon as the Sal Pals and the Executive Committee of STARFLEET sign the contract with CBS/Paramount for “exclusive” rights to the word “Starfleet.” they are going to be coming after me and my web provider and/or ISP with a cease and desist for STARFLEET Fail.
Are you shitting me? Well, now it all makes perfect sense.

This is a public forum for discussing several issues that we have on our mind.. Who is asking us to cease and desist CBS/Paramount? Are just one individual?

Hi Ollie! No one has sent me any request to cease operations. Not yet. This was just a rumor passed to me from a concerned friend. Make no mistake about it, though, this sort of tactic would not be out of character for this new regime.
Ask Scott Akers about due process. They served him with a C&D letter and threatened to sue him over Academy classes that SCOTT WROTE HIMSELF. Then they tried to run him out of STARFLEET.
Sorry to disappoint the Sal Pals, but I won’t go quietly.

I’m still waiting for the administration to post dox re: their “agreement”.

Heh.. Par for the course. As I mentioned before, the communication in this organization has been going downhill for a while now.
Keep in mind that I don’t actively dislike this administration, but neither am I enamoured of them. I’m sort of standing on the fence.
It’s been a week since IC, and I have yet to hear anything from the ECAB, or from the Administration, and even my own CO hasn’t passed information down to me.
The last I heard, was that Paramount was going to grant us the indefinite use of “Starfleet” and that we could protect our brand name as we wanted to. I also heard that the official list was supposed to be brought up right after IC, but so far, I haven’t seen it again. I haven’t even seen an announcement. Would I have to resub once it comes back on line?
I don’t know..and this not knowing is about to drive me up a wall, across the ceiling, and down the other side.

Haven’t you seen enough of Sal’s pattern of empty promises, backroom politics and willful disregard of member’s rights?
Oh and let’s not forget over $7500 of our hard raised membership dollars to a lawyer to prop him up psychologically and tell him what he wants to hear.
I understand members sitting on the fence, but the middle of the road is the worst place to drive.
