Nine and a Half Hours
I posted a missive to the SFI-L at 8:01am this morning. It’s been over nine and a half hours and no moderator has acted on the post. Aren’t there four moderators? Why can no one either approve or reject a post? This is impeding any discussion I may have to contribute to the list in any sort of timely manner.
Granted, what I posted was not really all that important, but still.
Here’s what I posted:

The reason you’re seeing it so late is because I’ve been wrongfully “Moderated” by Mr. Rolando…and in this moderation, some posts make it through, some posts don’t. I’ve had about 1/3 of my posts rejected at this point, because they were deemed “inappropriate” by Rolando
Been there, done that. Oh, and I am doing it again because I got moderated, this time with NO WARNING for this offense. Rolando says I was warned. I was warned a week ago for posting on a closed topic. Rolando:
Here is the 1st warning. It was still in effect. Hence, as a 2nd violation of the list rules you have been placed in a moderated status. I will send you a copy of the list rules.
And he did, too, send me a copy of the list rules. My argument is that I was warned for a different infraction. I feel I should have received a warning for THIS infraction before simply being moderated out of hand.
This argument is a little silly, I’ll agree. It’s splitting hairs. But the Moderation Team molds these rules to suit their needs at the time. Rules are not absolute and they are not being enforced equally.
Rolando says I was warned, and he feels his warning a week ago applies simply to ALL OF THE RULES. One warning, globally covering all the bases? No. I think I should have been warned privately about my insult to Borg3of3 at the time of the offense.
Craig again:
(I presume he’s the only one paying attention to what I’m posting at this point in time, since he’s the one that “Moderated” me illegally in my opinion.
That is correct. You, like me, have become a pet project. The other moderators are worried about important things like trimming posts, and blank lines in signatures. Not to mention off-topic threads, like the death of Charleton Heston, a science fiction icon.
But have you noticed the moderators can post pretty much whatever they want? Karen posted questions about a knitting circle and about how to go about buying a uniform. Yet we are slammed and topics closed if the post is not germain to STARFLEET business.
Trimming posts? Have you seen Matt Moyer’s latest post? And he owns the list. Now, I like Matt, but he should practice what the Moderation Team preaches.
All of this, of course, stems from my violation and “obvious contempt” of the Officer’s Code of Conduct. Yet, Mike Stein, alleged CFO of this organization, can slam people with no repercussions whatsoever.
The Moderation Team and the Executive Committee, as owners of this list, need to wake up and smell what they are shoveling.

Wait… shame on ME? All I have done is post what I see and receive from the various listserves and email traffic. Shame on me? Shame on the Sal Pals.
