I need to check the weather…
Well, I wondered when an Executive Committee member would post a comment on STARFLEET Fail. I assumed, well, that it would be a cold day in hell. I was wrong. As often as I report a Fail of this administration, I most certainly enjoy reporting a WIN!
Matt Moyer, the current STARFLEET CompOps under the Lizard administration, posted a comment last night. He outlined some of the membership benefits that are now a reality for STARFLEET members. There are special account numbers and PIN numbers in effect. Members can take advantage of these discounts RIGHT AWAY. This includes any Choice Hotels, Brooks Brothers, Enterprise Rental Car, and Office Max. There will be other programs comin gonline in the near future as well. For more information about these programs, including the required account numbers and such, go to SFI.ORG and log in. Your login name is your SCC#, and your password is the same as your password for the membership database.
As an aside, I am glad Matt likes my idea for a YES/NO sort of API for the STARFLEET database that I mentioned in the comments as well. I still say most strenuously that something like this could speed up business in STARFLEET a hundred fold. Especially in things that are notoriously slow, such as the Academy.
And how cool is it that it’s ENTERPRISE Rental Cars? Huh? Huhh?? I mean really!
Thanks, Matt!

Hey Dorm…
Excited because it is ENTERPRISE?

to be fair, Matt seems to be the major exception to the EC. He also posts to fleetlist
now if the CS or VCS actually *read* the site instead of acting like it was insulting them personally (well, then again, if they weren’t screwing up by the numbers in the first place…)

Yeah, but Matt never commented here. I really do wish that the rest of the EC would get the point that the site, while it is raw and in your face, does sincerly have STARFLEET’s best interests at heart.

Rich: I tried to find something close, like the Klingon word for “loser.” On The Simpsons, Comic Book Guy looks up the word for “loneliness” but botches it. Jeff Cross of the Klingon Language Institute commented on that:

Actually Dave, you are wrong, this is another example of Fail.
When I paid my $15 plus dollars for my family membership, I expected to get a CQ every other month, a LEGIBLE CQ, a membership packet, membership services, and access to the academy.
What did my family get so far this administration’s first eight months
1. Three CQs, all looking like shit, nearly completely ineligible, one missing, and nothing in the last two about this little thing called Star Trek.
2. Computer Operations refusing to answer emails from members in need of Membership Services.
3. Membership Processing only working 1 day a week, as they see fit.
4. Promises of Rental Discouts at Enterprise Rental, (I get that with my AAA)
5. Discounts at Brooks Brothers, maybe 7-8 members besides myself would actually shop at Brooks Brothers.
6. Discounts at Office Max, Funny when I went in today, they told me they never heard of Starfleet.
7. Discounts at Choice Hotels, I already got the Discount Card from my travel and work.
So what do I get out of Matt Moyer chasing down discounts instead of doing his job as Comp Ops
NOTHING
This is called FAILURE.
I paid for A, I dont get A, I get a B that I don’t want.
This is called Bait and Switch and is Illegal
How long do we have to tolerate this Administrations LYING? CHEATING? STEALING?
Oh???
When they’ve spent all of OUR MONEY and then disappear????
Didn’t Sal do that once with his Internet Spam Business. No wonder my kids don’t believe in Santa anymore, he’s a vindictive hateful man who will do anything to destroy the people he hates.
IDIC in action my friends, Garrick must be so proud when he lies to the State Department about our club.
Members don’t matter
Only Sal’s hate matters
