I Am Curious SFI-L
What’s the real story with Richard Jolitz’s stepping down as an senior moderator of the “official” list, SFI-L, as revealed earlier today?

I thought Rich was a pretty even minded guy. Even he has problems and doubts about Sal and his EC. Wonder if he got fired.

What is more curious is why did the Vice Chief of Communications feel compelled to resign over it?
November 4th, 2008 at 4:41 pm
Okay, Rob, are you going to tell us why you’ve resigned? Or are you waiting for Rich to recount why he’s no longer a senior moderator of SFI-L?

Richard Jolitz has just posted to SFI-L that he resigned. He was neither fired nor asked to resign. He futher said that his reasons are his own and will not divulge those reasons.

This just keeps getting curiouser and curiouser…

Rob- spill the beans!

Rich and I have since exchanged emails and typed out our thoughts on the situation. I think it best we keep the whole thing private as to why Rich is no longer Senior Moderator.
As for my leaving Vice - it was made clear to me that I was not EC material. So I left. Jon Lane is a hard worker and deserves respect for what he is trying to do with the Communications Department and I wish for him nothing but the best.

Rob - this is my understanding of what you wrote back
- someone in the administration (who is not Jon Lane) has made it clear to you that you are ‘not EC material’
Despite the fact that you posted more on Starfleet-L than the rest of the EC, and appeared to be trying to do your job in the circumstances.
Maybe what they meant was that you are not ‘Saliban EC material’
To fit in, you should have probably not done anything within your job description. Been unavailable by all communication means. Subjected the members of the organization to degradation in private forums. Hired non-Starfleet cronies for staff positions. Spent Starfleet funds on questionable services. Conducted operations against the constitution of the organization. Persecuted your political enemies.

Spence,
To be honest - not knowing who you are I do not feel obligated to reply in any way. That being said…
It was Jon Lane who privately made it clear I was not EC material. Jon and I have a personality conflict. I thought I could deal with it, but I could not. This does not make Jon or myself good or evil or right or wrong. Jon deserves respect for what he is trying to do - for that reason and for fear of opening a healing wound I will drop it there.

Since Rob wants to drop the subject, this question is not addressed specifically to him, but to participants and other habitues of this forum:
What makes someone EC material?
November 11th, 2008 at 10:09 pm
Oh thats easy Tim, if its a Smith/Rickard/Malotte EC: Doing the right thing, because the membership does matter, and if that means you don’t get to do things your way, oh well, it’s still the right thing. Now if its the Livingston or Lizard EC, being willing to lie. cheat, steal, slander, atttack or any other despicable behavior to prop up the CS.

Food for thought: History is written by the winners. How much of the history you’ve recounted in your long tenure as STARFLEET Historian has been rewritten since?

Revisionism is a deadly sin to true Historians, which is why I tried to recruit you instead of promoting my Deputy, when I became Academy Dant. As is bias, which is why I had Chris Wallace write the Malotte Years entries, I would not be able to write an unbiased account. With Mssr. Hoover being both Historian and Asst IG, now Acting Master Inquisitor, he would not provide me reassurances that he would not be a revisionist, so while I turned over everything that was Starfleet’s property, I have not made copies of my private collection. Funny side note the EC member fron Les’ term who accepted the resignation I never made, threatened to suspend my membership if I didnt turn over my private collection, and the website I paid for to her personally. While I did donate the website, I still have my collection, and am still a member desoite CS Scudder’s attempts.

I will cop to the fact that I wasn’t a good R7 Historian. The person who now holds that billet applied for the position of Deputy R7 Historian some years ago, but couldn’t do basic research, such as assessing the newsletter collection of his then-CO.
Last year, he asked me if any of my materials (photo archives, logs, etc.) were available. I didn’t reply but wouldn’t have given it to him even if he’d paid shipping costs.
One of the reasons I didn’t accept your kind offer is that I have always had a low tolerance for ungrateful people who always have their hand out for something and/or who are good to you as long as you are somehow useful to them.
I see now that my decisions were the correct ones to make.

One of the many reasons I am not EC material is that I’m simply not willing to take abuse for a cause I don’t believe in.
